We’re giving Scent Lodge newsletter readers a sneak peek at one of our favourite fragrance gift-with-purchase items of the year. It’s a generous luxe scarf created in Donatella Versace’s accessories atelier in Milan, inspired by the famous Italian fashion house’s spring/summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection set amongst the imagined ruins of Atlantis, submerged for antiquity under miles of clear blue seawater.

Fashion enthusiasts will recognize the inspiration: Gianni Versace’s ‘trésor de la mer’ fashion collection for Spring 1992, a melange of starfish, coral, seashell motifs scattered across waves of azure and turquoise blue.

“I wanted to do something disruptive and to break the rules because I think that, what worked a few months ago, does not make any sense today,” Donatella told Vogue. She calls it ‘an example of inclusion, of mutual support, and acceptance of what is different from us.’

This collector silk fashion scarf is a generous size (33 cm x 33 cm) and boasts four Dylan Turquoise illustrations, the famed Medusa emblem and the new Versace logo. You could easily frame it as a piece of art or place it under a glass square as a feature coffee table in a living room. Of course, Donatella designed it to be tied loosely around the neck or wrapped several times around the wrist.

Dylan Turquoise has been an immediate success around the world this spring. The fresh and light fruity-floral scent for women blends notes of Primofiore lemon, Italian mandarin from Sicily with jasmine petals & freesia. But it is the juicy guava notes that wrap around the white flowers and woods that gives it a fresh, delicious character. Donatella Versace describes it as an escape to faraway islands where the blue sky meets crystal waters. It’s a fragrance blended to remind you of warm sun and summer days.
