What Is Your Birth Flower?

In the early 1500s, perfumers enjoyed a high status in Venetian society. It became a status symbol to have a signature fragrance created for you by one of these artists and both royalty and nobility regularly visited perfumers’ labs to consult on one-of-a-kind scents to be worn at balls, parties and state occasions. One tradition was to include a note of your birth flower in your custom scent. If your bloom didn’t have a natural scent, the perfumer would blend several essential oils to create a note that reflected your birth flower. Do you know what you birth month flower is? Born in April, my flower was always the ‘sweet pea’ and now it’s the daisy. Interesting! Not the most enticing scents.

I’m a water flower and what a gorgeous bloom. I’m sure in the deep tropics the water flower has a beautiful aroma to them. So many of our flowers have been breed not to have a smell. Nothing beats the scent of a fresh picked carnation or Lily of the Valley. We have to remember if our flowers don’t have a scent to them this is where your favourite perfume can enhance their smell. Happy Valentine’s Day 💘💘💘

Do gladioli have a scent? They are lovely but I don’t remember them having a specific aroma. Perhaps it’s an accord?

Carnations! I knew this and while they last a long time and sometimes have a lovely spicy scent, I love other months flowers more. May Lilly-of-valley wins hands down! Great read, Thank you beautiful people & Happy Valentine’s Day xx
